The darkness

The darkness
When we are finally alone, abandoned in the depths of the earth or above ground in settlements for others like us or as charred pieces in delicately adorned ornaments; the only thing we would have to keep us sane, to keep our souls from the darkness that longs for it are the stories we’ve heard, the adventures, the songs we’ve sang, the idea’s we’ve birthed, the people we’ve met and kept, the sound of laughter and the seemingly ever present faint beating of our own hearts. I wholly pity those of us who have no memories to remember or stories to relive.

When the music stops and the visions fade, the souls leave and the darkness begins. There is no escape from the darkness.
